ABOUT US

The year 2023 marked 30 years of Scouting for Troop 93. In 2022, our first full year of Scouting following COVID, we achieved BSA's highest ranking for excellence in Scouting - the Journey to Excellence Gold Award. Our Troop also captured Honor Troop and 3 Honor Patrol Awards at Yawgoog Summer Camp. In 2023 we repeated as Gold Award winners and again captured Honor Troop and 3 Honor Patrol Awards. Mixing it up in 2024, we accomplished a hat trick in scouting, earning our third Gold Award in a row and we did it again in 2025. Last year an this year we attended camp at June Norcross Webster where our scouts were recognized at the troop, patrol and individual levels.

We are a Scout-led Troop. Scouts plan and lead meetings, trips, activities and events. With the support of the Troop Committee, Scouts raise money to fund their adventures and conduct a variety of community service events. We are family friendly and believe that parent engagement enhances the Scout experience.

Troop 93 Scouts are encouraged to grow academically, athletically, and socially through participation in a variety of music, art, robotics, youth sports and similar type programs. Scouts receive quarterly reviews of their progress to help them track their progress and manage their busy schedules.

Adult Support

More than 20 adults in our Troop committee are BSA certified in a variety of courses including;

Introduction to Outdoor Leadership

Hazardous Weather

Wilderness First Aid

Safe Swim Defense

Safety Afloat

Basic Scoutmaster Training

Woodbadge

With many adult EAGLE Scouts on our committee, Scouts who pursue the rank of EAGLE are guaranteed one-on-one mentoring with someone who "knows the ropes".

Merit Badges

We have many Merit badge counselors, covering more than 100 merit badges. Scouts can work independently or in small groups to earn merit badges. Our Scoutmaster will work with each Scout to identify counselors (in and out of the Troop) to ensure the Scout's goals are reached.

We host in-house merit badge events 4-5 times a year. Our Scouts also earn merit badges at summer camp, workshops at Camp Workcoeman and Camp Mattatuck, as well as the popular merit badge college at Rhode Island College.

Camping

We camp 7-8 times a year throughout New England as well as one out-of-state camping trip. Recent out-of-state trips include Herkimer, NY, Mount Washington, NH and Washington, D.C.

Our campouts are designed to support advancement, merit badge work and a variety of leadership and community service activities. Most importantly, our campouts provide Scouts a chance to challenge themselves, become more self-sufficient and develop self-confidence.

We don't want to brag, but our Scouts have perfected the art of s'mores!
